Martin Luther King Day of Service

It was cold yesterday in Germantown, Philadelphia, but it was fun to be part of the largest Martin Luther King Day of Service in the nation, organized by Global Citizen 365.

The Johnson House—a former stop on the Underground Railroad—collected donations of school supplies, and volunteers from Mission Incorporated asked visitors to reflect on racism.

At Awbury Arboretum, volunteers—including students from Parkway Northwest High School for Peace and Social Justice—picked up branches, moved rocks and spread mulch.

And Men Who Care of Germantown were among the volunteers who helped Patorius Community Gardens build raised beds at Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust.
